The Submersible is the most purposeful dive watch in the range: unidirectional bezel with minute scale, crown-guard bridge and high pressure resistance. Since 2019 it has been an independent collection.
The evolution of the Submersible
In 1956 Panerai built for the Egyptian navy the watch that became known as the Egiziano Piccolo — a 60 mm case with rotating bezel for underwater operations.
In 1998 the principle returned to the civilian collection as the Luminor Submersible, with a unidirectional bezel and depth indication via its minute scale.
Versions in titanium, ceramic, Carbotech and bronze followed — the latter developing a characteristic patina with wear.
In 2019 Panerai spun the Submersible out of the Luminor line and continued it as an independent collection.
