Alhambra
A lucky symbol reimagined as a timepiece
The Alhambra transposes the Maison's four-leaf clover motif onto a calm, instantly recognisable dial. Rendered in mother-of-pearl, onyx or coloured stones, the watch becomes a discreet jewel with an iconic contour.
The evolution of the Alhambra
In 1968 Van Cleef & Arpels presented the Alhambra motif as a four-leaf clover with a beaded gold border. The form became the Maison's lucky symbol.
At first Alhambra was primarily a jewellery collection. Over time the motif migrated onto dials, uniting the house's watchmaking with its jewellery tradition.
Each material variant changes the character: mother-of-pearl appears luminous, onyx graphic and hard, while malachite or carnelian bring natural pattern and colour.
Today's Alhambra watches belong to a family that deliberately places jewellery and timekeeping side by side — not as a technical sports watch, but as a mark of personal meaning.

What to look for when buying
- 01
The natural patterning of mother-of-pearl and gemstones makes every dial individual; damage or later replacement is value-relevant.
- 02
The beaded border setting should be even all round and free of impact marks. On jewellery watches the setting matters as much as the movement.
- 03
Original box, certificate and jewellery documentation help confirm the material and reference execution beyond doubt.
