The Serpenti is not a watch with jewellery elements but a piece of jewellery with a time function. Its serpent contour, flexible Tubogas bracelet and precious execution make it Bulgari in its most sensual form.
The evolution of the Serpenti
The first Serpenti watch was created in 1948, at a time when Bulgari was experimenting with flexible Tubogas bracelets. The case formed the serpent's head, its body wrapping around the wrist.
During the 1950s and 1960s the form was embellished with enamel, diamonds and coloured gemstones. Elizabeth Taylor wore a Serpenti during the filming of Cleopatra and turned it into a cultural symbol.
Later generations reinterpreted the serpent as a single or multiple coil, as a watch, bracelet and ring. The concealed dial remained a deliberately intimate detail throughout.
The current collection ranges from more accessible steel and gold executions to highly jewelled, unique pieces with mechanical or quartz displays.
